Home
My home is more than a concrete floor overlaid in carpet, tile, or wood. My home is more than some walls covered in paint, wallpaper, or brick. My home is a place where I can relax after a busy day. My home is a place where I feel safe and loved in the embrace of family.
In the kitchen, the scent of warm muffins and fresh baked bread fill the air. From the family room, sounds of music and singing fill the house. In the playroom, laughter (and lego) are found in abundance. The library: a place of memories, stories old and new, a treasury of tales yet to be told. A house of wisdom and great knowledge.
The stairs: a way of going up or down. A new surrounding, another story, every step of the way. The hallway, a path bringing you to places, some known, and others unknown. A hallway is a trail, and on it, doors. Some are closed, but more are open, leading to new beginnings.
The bedroom is where peace and quiet dwell under a soft and warm blanket. There, healing and rest are found. Night is a time of solitude. Inside the bathroom, you find the shower. Long or short, you come out clean, relaxed and ready to tackle the world your own way. In the bathtub, submerged, soaking, popping sparkling bubbles or breathing in luxurious scents of lavender, eucalyptus, cedar. It is a soothing, calming cleanser. A small hideaway from the busy mess of the world, where you can relax and recuperate. A short respite from the rush of the world.
My home is much more than a bunch of wood, nails, paint, and stone. It is like an intricate dance where all the bits and pieces come together to create a masterpiece.
