A House and a Home

I want you to know that a house is not the same as a home. A house is a structure, supported by a sturdy concrete foundation and thick wooden beams. A house is where your rugs lay upon your hardwood floors, or where your sofa resides in front of the television. A house is something you can touch and feel. But homes are not the same. Homes are abstract. A home is where you create endless memories. A home is where you share happy moments of fun and laughter with loved ones. A home is where you and your mom bake chocolate chip cookies. A home is where you and your dad work together to fix something. A home is where your family is. A home is where you can share your thoughts and feelings, while a house just supports you physically. Houses contain furniture, but homes contain love. A house might be where you sleep, but a home is where you feel safe and happy. Thanks to Habitat for Humanity, everyone has the chance to have a house and a home. Home is where the heart is.
