Perseverance

Home is where I am LOVED and where I feel hugs from my family and it's where I taste the delicious cookies baked right out of the oven. It is also a place where I feel SAFE and APPRECIATE the hard work that goes into building a home. Perseverance is a quality everyone needs when building a home and Habitat for Humanity perseveres in helping families build homes. Home isn't just a place where you live, it's somewhere where you laugh and giggle and where we play family games and have fun movie nights. We even have a family show that we watch on weeknights and we have a list of movies we can watch on weekends. When families have a home they can do this too. My home always feels safe. I’m safe because of the warmth of the fire heating my home. I’m safe because I know my brother is there, playing basketball in his room. I’m safe because of the locks on the doors. I’m safe because I hear my mom in her home office talking to her clients and I'm safe because my dad is in his shop making maps and furniture with his machines, tools and CNC wood cutter. These are all of the things that make me feel safe in my home. Habitat for Humanity Homes are built in good areas where families can feel safe too. Another thing I love about my home is how hard my parents worked on it. It took about a year and a half to make it. So, first we had to live in a trailer park using my uncle's trailer. Next, we lived in a rental house near my school. Afterwards, we bought our own trailer and lived on the property of our home while it was still getting built. Then, we lived in the basement of our house with earwigs and bugs, but then finally, we went into our own room and lived in our home. So that's how I know my parents wanted it to be just right for our family. Habitat for Humanity includes the potential owners in their building process. They have to volunteer their time on building their home which helps them appreciate it more. I hope lots of people can get a great home with the help of Habitat for Humanity. Everyone deserves to be loved, feel safe and have a family that works together to make a nice home.
