Home Vs House

A house can be very different from a home. A house is just a building made of brick, mud, concrete, or stone. But a true home has comfort, memories and love. A house can have a kitchen, that is grand and amazing. But a home has a kitchen where you can smell the delicious aroma coming from your dinner table and you enjoy the food you eat too, because at home the food you or your parents cook is cooked with love. A house can have a living room, with a sofa that’s long and gleaming. It can have a beautiful chandelier that illuminates the living room. But a home has a living room where memories reside. Whether it’s in a picture or in your mind. A house can have a bedroom with a grand bed and large closet. It can have a window that brings in light. But a home has a bedroom where you can rest and get refreshed to start a new day. It can be used to relax after a long day of work, or it can be used to play with your favourite thing. A place to study is always needed whether it’s just a desk or an entire room. A house can have a lovely study room with a desk and a gleaming carpet. The desk can have a lot of supplies from scissors to paper. A home has a study room too, it can be anywhere. It may be just a small table, but you study, learn, or even colour or draw. It is a place to unleash your imagination and creativity. This is what a home means to me, it is a place where you share memories, whether you were you born there, grew up there, or are still there. A home is not just a house, it is the place where one belongs. Thank you, Habitat for Humanity, for working together with dedication and positivity, helping build a home for those who don’t have one. Thank you for making Canada our home.
