The Best Moving Day
Sitting tall on boxes in the moving van
Watching our new found land
This house is made up of four walls
So many rooms and long halls
It’s a place to share
All the loving warm care
A place to bond and have fun
Under a roof that keeps us safe from the sun
Warm noodle soup on the table
It’s homemade, so it needs no label
Love and yummy spices
Food chopped up into delicate slices
Popcorn is ready for sharing
Movie blankets are comfy for wearing
All the lights turn off
The room suddenly feels soft
We laugh, we cry
Our emotions collide
The day comes to a rest
But it was definitely the best
Pillows are fluffed
Tummies are stuffed
I doze off to sleep
As I count sheep
While I sleep, houses are being made
Where homeowners can finally rest and lay.
Families who have had many rough days
Now have a window to stare out and gaze
Habitat for Humanity make walls sturdy
For people who are willing to get their hands dirty
These walls are my home where I roam
And it’s where I call home
