The Meaning of Home
When I think of home, I usually imagine a house or an apartment. The first I see is the front door. It’s the entrance to all the wonderful things inside, behind the door is the living room: In the living room, I want to see 2 couches that I can sleep on with my cat. It is where I can rest and just relax. The living room is a place where I can relax, watch TV by myself or with my family, it’s a place where I can let go of hard emotions.
The Bedroom: The bedroom is somewhere that I can play as much as I want. It is a place where my cat can sleep, it is a place where I can play with friends, it is a place where I can sleep.
The Bathroom: It is a place where I can shower, take baths, and use the washroom. I can sit in the bathtub and relax in the water. It is a place where I can blow dry my hair to get it ready for going to places.
The Pantry: It is a place where I can find snacks to eat, it is a place where the laundry goes, it is a place where I can store things.
The Closet: the closet is a place where I should be able to put my stuff (e.g clothes, extra toys) it is a place where I can store my NERF guns.
The Kitchen: It should be a place where I can smell the food that my mom makes for me. It is a place where I can make breakfast for myself in the morning, it is a place that I can find many different ingredients in. It is a place where I should be able to find plates, cups, and bowls.
The Garden/Terrace: It is a place where I can hang with grandpa, or I could water the plants with him. It is a place where I can go and breathe fresh air.
Some homes (like mine in Iran) also have extra rooms like study or guest rooms: In there (study room) I want to see my dad’s or my workspace with a computer for either school purposes, or if I want to play games on it. I want there to be a desk and some bookshelves with my books on it.
Even hallways and some corners in a home can feel special because they connect all spaces together.
In the end, the meaning of home is different for everyone. But no matter where or what it is, home is where you feel safe to be yourself. It’s where love lives and that makes it one of the most important places in the world for you.
