Home is a Feeling

Home is a Feeling Home is not a place, It is a feeling, Of security, Comfort, Belonging. Home is a tide, A feeling that comes and goes, Yet leaves an everlasting warmth, In the midst of winter’s snow. Home is a feeling, Of love, Like when a mother kisses her son, A husband hugs his wife, A sister comforts her brother. Home is a part of you, The corners of the puzzle, The base of your being, What you build off of, What gives you strength, It resides in your heart, At the very center. Home is the feeling, That bounds you to reality, And keeps you warm on the coldest of nights. Yet there’s always that someone, A person who lost that feeling, Left in darkness, despair, Ice encasing their heat, their home, Locked out. Outcast, nuisance, A glittering snowflake, Unique, beautiful, Unseen. Hood over my head, Leaving behind the feeling, I can never have.
