A Place Called Home
Everyday, after either a long day at work, or a tiring day of school, you go home. Home can mean very different things, for different people. A home is supposed to be a place where you feel safe, and loved. Some may think of home, exactly the way it's supposed to be. Sadly, others may not even have a home, and live in shelters. Some even live on the side of the road, with not even basic necessities, like shelter. Not everyone has the privilege of a home, but everyone deserves a home
For me, home is a comfortable and loving place that I can trust. Everyday, as I walk in from an exhausting day at school, I get greeted by my parents so warmly, and I always smell the comforting aroma of my mom’s cooking. Home is where I can rest, play, and be myself. My home is a safe place, with a place to sleep, with calmness, and peace. I can finish my schoolwork, activities, and play piano. A home isn’t always a house, and it can be different for different people. However, homelessness is a harsh reality. There may be someone sleeping on the subway, or in a corner of a busy street. Some may be in shelters, or in a van. Not everyone has a home, and not everyone feels loved. Not everyone has a place to go after a long day, so you should be grateful.
I hope you’ve developed another perspective on a home. You should be grateful, because not everyone has a home. My home is loving, yours may be too, but for some, home is where they want to escape. I hope you feel different about people who are homeless, and I hope you will always feel grateful for all you have.
