Home

A home is a home… and not a house. It’s a place to relax and be calm. My home has special times. A home is a place where the sadness ends and the fun begins. When I walk in my home I see memories on the walls. Sometimes I wonder not everyone has a home like I do. Home is the sound of mom saying, “dinner’s ready!” My brother and I rush to the table. A home is a home where my family stays together. Where the mad and sad goes out and the happiness comes in. Home makes me feel like myself. Home is my mom’s homemade pretzel bites dipped in spicy melted cheese. Coming home at lunch and eating a grilled cheese is special. I have happy memories with my brother when I was little. Like when he used to tap my head and suck his thumb. My mom used to say, “they’re just so cute together.” Almost every dark night I hear the sound of the television as I fall asleep. That is home. My cottage is a special place for me too. Every morning, I wake up early and eat bacon and eggs with my Dad. We head out fishing. My cottage is a special place to enjoy nature. A home is a memory that I will always keep in my heart. Thank you to Habitat for Humanity for helping people to find a safe home to make memories. By Jacob
