What is home to you?

To many people, home is a physical place. But to me, it isn't a place like an apartment or house. To me, home is my friends who stayed through my hardships and struggles. It is not defined by walls and a roof; it’s not about the physical structure or place. Home is about feeling my friends' love and support, even if it's just calling and staying silent throughout the night to complete homework. Home is when you go over to your friend’s house and help them when they need it, even if it’s just sitting on the bathroom floor talking to them as they take a well-deserved shower. Home is feeling the warmth of love that people can provide, comforting and showing affection during difficult times. Even if we are not related by blood, home is when we share experiences, understand each other, and have a sense of belonging. Home is when physical and mental disabilities don’t matter. Home isn’t a place; it’s a feeling. Home is when disabilities don’t define a person, but acceptance triumphs. It’s when you help your friends when their disabilities bring them down and you support them through their struggles. Home isn’t when the people you know judge you for who you are. Home is where they care for your passions and support you through thick and thin—when they pay for things without expecting anything in return. To me, home isn’t a place; it’s a feeling. Home doesn’t have to be walls and a roof. It can be a strong community that’s there for you when you fall. Home is when people can be there for you. Home just has to feel safe and supportive.
