Home Is a Part of Me
A house and a home are the same thing, right? Wrong! A house is somewhere to live and work, but a home is somewhere to be happy, to thrive. When you come home from work or school a home may just be a place to rest but for me home is a place where my family meets at the beginning and end of every day. Home is my happy place. My headquarters. I have lived in my home for my entire life. My parents raised my sister and I there, and when I have to leave it to start my own life I will be apprehensive. However, I'm excited to have my own home where I can feel safe and content. My current home is even more special to me than it may be for others because for two years, it was my school as well. During my time homeschooling, my home was the centre of everything I did. It was where I ate, slept, and learned. One thing I love about homes is that they are all unique. The way the house smells, the holidays the resident celebrates, and the food they like. My house smells like hot homemade meals and the dirt that my sister tracks in from the backyard. We have to remember that home is not just for humans. Many animals called Canada home before we came into the picture. When I step into the crisp morning air, I think about all the creatures that live around us. Birds, singing and chirping away. Squirrels, playing a lively game of tag as they chitter and squeak. The occasional flash of orange when a fox dashes into my backyard. Home is a part of nature, and also a part of my heart.
