What does home mean to me?

What does home mean to me? Home is where I took my first steps. Wobbling back and forth, reaching out for a Cheerio. I uttered my first word at home, followed by my first giggle. Home is where I first learned the colours of the rainbow, pointing out all the colours around me. Home was where I excitedly dressed up in my new princess dresses, twirling around for the world to see. Sneaking into my parents room because of the monsters under my bed. Home was where I got my first ever “big girl bed”, and lined all my stuffies so none of them felt left out. Home was where I lost my first big tooth, putting it under my pillow for the tooth fairy. Where I played “tickle monster” with my Dad until I got caught. Home was where I stayed while COVID-19 took over my school and the ability to see my friends and family. My only safe place during a really scary part of my life. I feel so grateful that I had a home in such a hard time for the world. Home was where I decided to re-paint my room and re-decorate it, happy to finally have it the way I like it. Picking out the colour and a new bed, even getting new lights. Home is where I got into painting and colouring for the first time. Where I got sick and got better. You see, home is much more than 4 walls, a roof and a floor, it's a foundation built on memories. To have a house other than needing bricks and wood, you also need family and friends to keep everything together. So to me, family, friends and memories are all a part of my home life and will forever be. I also moved many times during my life, but each home was different, leaving old memories behind making room for the new ones in a new home.
