The Meaning Of Home

When you say home most people immediately think of four-walled place where you live, well that place you’re thinking about is a house. You’re probably thinking “what’s the difference?” Let me ask you something “what does home mean to you?” For the meaning of home is not just the physical things we do, for example the games we play, the movies we watch or the things we make, it’s about feeling you get that warm tingling feeling you get that lets you know this is where you belong, that you can be who you want and feel supported by your decision and that you won’t get judged. A home is NOT about how big it is, how many rooms it has or how many designer or expensive items you have. It’s about the memories you create together, that you could always look back on, and remember the fun times you had together. In my opinion a small house is better than a big house, sure there are some perks to a big house, you get more privacy, space to run around and play, but I believe the smaller the house the more you have to see each other and interact together, so whether you like it or not you have to talk to people. I am very grateful to have a home and not a house because some people aren’t as lucky as some of us and don’t feel safe, loved and cared for at home, and my parents work very hard to have time for me and my sister and to be able to provide for us and to help us with our schoolwork, and get us a good education. Thank you Habitat for Humanity for building not just houses, but homes, so families can experience laughter, movie nights, stories together, help with work and to make even more memories together.
