The Final Exam

“Glinda Glenwich” With a flutter of nerves, Glinda stepped into the room. Today marked her final exam at Sorcerer Academy. “So… your challenge is to make this room come alive. To cast the spell, all you need to do is describe what ‘home’ means to you in a few words,” the instructor announced. “You have fifteen minutes, and your time starts now!” “A residence,” Glinda began, but nothing happened. “A dwelling.” Still no magic. “The place where we live?!” she cried out, her anxiety rising. “Calm down,” the instructor advised, " You might find ideas by reflecting on what your heart conveys when you think of home." “Well.. home is a place full of love, joy, and comfort. It’s about playing games with family on a Friday night, talking gibberish, watching movies, or savoring the best meals prepared by mom. It’s the joy of asking my parents for gifts just because, or reading to my siblings, or sharing secrets with grandparents.” Glinda’s face lit up. “Home is like winter that makes you strong, or autumn, where you discover yourself, or spring, where you grow and change. It’s like summer, filled with laughter and joy.” The instructor nodded in enthusiasm, “Almost there!!” “Home is warm and bright, like a twinkling star. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a mansion or a cottage, it’s just the people in it. Umm, the people…” Everything fell into place, like the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, and she felt the spell take shape. Standing tall, Glinda met the instructor’s gaze, “Home is family.” Golden sparkles swirled around the room, and light seeped in through the window, casting a shadow on the homely wooden floor. The olive-green walls glimmered, the intricate patterns shining brightly in the warm light. A voice emanated from the roof, “Hello!!” THE END
