There's No Place Like Home

There is no place like home! A house might be a shelter but is way different than a home. A home is a place to feel safe, loved and cozy. No one could change my mind about what a home is, because a home is where you learn from your mistakes, be yourself, and feel like you belong. When I am at home, I feel like a powerful, amazing, beautiful person. A home is where you spend time with family, make memories, but sometimes we get sad. Even though we are sad, we know that there is a roof above our heads, and we have a place to feel safe and let our emotions out. Everyone deserves a home, it doesn’t matter what the person’s past was like. You don’t have to impress anyone with your home. What matters is if you think it is a home. But, it takes quite a bit of time to change a house into a home. During COVID, I really realized what a home is. I thought I knew before, but things have changed. I realized that a home is a place to have good times, feel happy, and spend time with family. The point of this essay is to tell you that a home does not have to be pretty, or big to really make it feel like a home. You can have a big home, but you don’t need a big home. I love my home, and not because of the size, or the look of it. It is because of the times I have had in my home, and how it makes me feel. Thank you to Habitat for Humanity for giving me a chance to tell you, What Home Means to Me.
