Meaning of Home

I stepped into my home and felt the warm love in my heart. My dog barked gleefully at my arrival. Joy and happiness danced on my face as I reached down and pet my happy little dog’s cute face. I walked to the couch trying not to trip on my silly cats who were purring gently and weaving through my legs. I went to sit down on the couch, barely avoiding another loving cat. As I sat, I looked at all of the pictures and memories danced in them as I gazed at the portraits. The smell of baking cookies filled the air and I decided to go outside. I felt the cold crisp air making its way through my home. I shut the door and called my brother and said “I’ll beat you in a snowball fight!” “No way!” he replied. We raced to get our gear on and trampled out into the white fluffy snow. We laughed and threw snowballs at each other. I had a ton of snow in my coat. My body was cold but not my heart and I couldn’t figure out why. Then my dog came hurtling out into the fluffy snow and was covered in snow from head to tail. My brother and I laughed and fell to the ground still chuckling. Then it hit me. I knew why my heart wasn’t cold. It was because I WAS HOME.
