Home
“A house, a home, same thing!” Some people might say. But they are very different. Home is a unique place. At home you can relax and be yourself. Home is a place you are welcome. When people think of home, they mostly think of happiness and joy. But at home things can get sad. You might get hurt or get into trouble and if you have siblings, you might get into arguments. Sometimes home can be scary, but you will have someone to comfort you if it is a home, not just a house. I am sure you have seen homeless people on the streets. But I do not think they should be called homeless because they might have a home. It could be a hut, tent or even a dumpster, but it can still be home. At home you can use all your senses. At home I can taste the delicious foods my parents make, smell the candles that my mom always lights, touch my art supplies, hear the laughter of my siblings, and see the photos of us on the walls. When you go to someone's house they might say, “make yourself at home” That means you are welcome, and they want you to be there. I used to live in a place since I was 2, it was home. But we had to move because of mold and leaks. But at our new house we made it home. I am thankful for Habitat for Humanity because everyone deserves a home, not just a house.
