How does it feel

How Does It Feel? How does it feel, one might ask? Imagine yourself alone in a storm, It’s freezing cold and you just want to be warm, Imagine yourself with no place to live, And always relying on some to give. Most people don’t understand what it’s like, But for some, it’s more than a hike, And some go through freezing cold nights, And while it’s dark they don’t have any lights. Many have no shelter and are living on the street, Finding a safe place to go is quite a feat, Some may be surrounded by walls, And some may be living in halls. Waking up on Christmas morning with no presents around a tree, I should be with family enjoying a hot tea, No presents, no candy, not a single toy, I should have a home full of laughter and joy. Memories of my family fill my mind, I wish more people would be respectful and kind, If only I had known, Maybe I wouldn’t be alone, For some the life goal is to get a degree, And after that they will be free, My dream of success is out of sight, But maybe there is still some hope and light, To me a home is more than just a place, It’s somewhere I can feel safe in my own space, Full of happiness, laughter and love, Maybe one day I will rise above. How does it feel one might ask? Always dreaming for wishes to come true, Feeling like there’s nothing I can do, I think I’m in this a bit too far, I wish I could be a shooting star. By: Brayden Wood
