If I Were a Home

Home can mean a lot of things to you and me but have you ever thought about if you were a home? Home, a place where you are free from the outside, I have joy, happiness, and give you lots of pride. Every object and item keeps a special moment in your heart, I support you and try my best to do my part. When your sad and lonely I can always bring you up, You can count on me, I am your backup. Confort, peace, trust and meaning make me unique to you, Ten, twenty or thirty years doesn't matter I’m a place you lived through. I’m never just a shelter with four walls and a roof, I can mean more, If you try and look hard enough you can find kindness galore. I protect you from the harm and unkind thoughts from the planet, You are my sapling, my seed, and I’m the one who planted it. Me and your family support your bright ongoing journey, Everyday I have been with you, I’m the roots to your family tree. For me it’s an everyday thing making your dreams come true, I help you learn and accomplish the things you pursue. Memories and precious stories are kept with love and are untold, I can still bring you those nostalgic moments even if I’m old. You can replace me, get rid of me but my spirit is within, After many years of helping you my journey will still begin. Being a home may sound easy and fun, But it takes a lot of work even when you're done. That's why If I were home I would be respectful and kind, It is what I would do if home was on my mind.
