FIVE SENSES OF HOME
When I wake up each morning, I feel secure, safe, and content.
The sights, the smells, the feelings, the tastes, and the sounds, greet me and I smile, realizing that there is nothing like home.
If home were a sound, it would be the barking of my dogs as they greet me and the crunching of the grass on a cold fall day.
If home were a feeling, it would be the warm embrace of a hug from my family before I leave to get on the bus.
If home were a taste, it would be walking down to my Great Grandma's place with a plate of homemade blueberry muffins in her hands.
If home were a sight, it would be flames dancing while roasting hot dogs on a cold night with my family.
If home were a smell, it would be buttery popcorn on movie night with my Gramma and Papa at the cabin..
When I crawl into bed at night, and feel the warmth and softness of my blanket wrapped around me, I fall asleep dreaming of the things that make my house a home; the smells, the tastes, the feelings, the sights and the sounds. There is nothing like home.
