What is does home mean to me?
If someone were to ask “What does home mean to you?” I’d hesitate at first, unsure of what to say, but after a couple of minutes, I would start from the beginning of my life. I would say…
“Home is my private sanctuary (most of the time). It is where I spoke my first word and learned to walk. Home is where my parents changed my diapers every hour. It is where I held my baby sister for the first time. Home is where we siblings had our first disagreements. Home is where I got my first pair of shoes. It is where I had my first haircut. (That’s a whole other story…) Home is where I celebrated my first birthday. Home is where my father taught me to read. Home is where I prepared cereal by myself for the first time (that was fun). Home is where my mom sang lullabies to me when I was younger. Home is where we had the grand chase around my house when I didn’t want to go to bed. Home is where I watched TITANIC for the first time. Home is where I slept in my parent’s room when I had nightmares. Home is where I cooked noodles on the stove. Home is where I discreetly played games while attending online school. Home is where my sister and I would splash water at each other while washing the dishes. Home is where I hid under the covers when I was scared of the dark. Home is where I feel protected and loved.
You see, home is more than simply four walls. It’s the place where you grow up and create memories. I moved a lot when I was younger, but I only moved HOUSES, but my family is my real home.
