The Cottage
It stands overlooking the cove
Watching the waves
Tumble over each other like playing children
Hours of searching the beach
For a treasure to bring back
Only to wonder...
What treasures will be found tomorrow
Family dinners bring my family together
Telling funny jokes and fascinating stories
About times long ago
My cousins play
Arguing about whose paper airplane is best
Only to burst out in laughs and giggles
The smell of the sea hangs in the air
And on me too
After I've gone beachcombing at low tide
As I watch the seals
I imagine that I am swimming with them
Diving under
And coming back up splashing and playing
As the sun slowly goes down
I see it drown in the ocean
Bathing the cottage in orange light
