The Place We Call Home (Poem)

The Place We Call Home... Home is not just a place with a roof, windows, and walls. More like the space where we get ready for school in the halls . It is more than the lights and the rooms It’s where we play pillow fights in our parent's bedroom Home is our place, each corner is laced with items we’ve chosen with care . No matter where we are, we will remember The place we call home... It's our triumph and glory, that these walls tell stories As they soak up what we do and say . We laugh and goof around each and every day And make memories that last forever. This is the place where we can be ourselves without being judged And bring out the true shine inside us . This is the place we call home... On Diwali, when we light candles, when everybody gathers . It is a true moment of happiness and magic When we share delicious treats, prepared with love We see all the people, beloved, The time when we fly fireworks in the sky Symbolizes colors of the family Where we celebrate every holiday That is the place we call home... From sweet scented candles, and furniture and handles, The atmosphere is just right to share The people that we surround ourselves with, Are the people who make us most happy That's why we should enjoy the time we still have left With the people we love and cherish In the place we call home... ~Khubi V
