What Is Home?

A young girl was walking back to their house with her Mom. The little one asked. “Mom, where is our home? My friend said her home is very big.” “Can you try to figure it out in four guesses”? Mom asked. “Okay, Mom. Is home where we sleep”? She guessed. “Close, but no,” Mom replied. “ You can guess again tomorrow.” As they reached the house. “But remember that home is not a place,” she added. The next day the girl gave another guess. “Is home what gives us shelter”? She guessed. “Close, but no,” Mom replied. “ You can guess again tomorrow.” As they reached the house. “But remember that home is not a wall of bricks," she added. The next day the girl gave another guess. “Is it home when I play with my brothers”? She guessed. “Close, but no,” Mom replied. “ You can guess again tomorrow.” As they reached the house. “But remember that home is not a game," she added. On the day of her last guess, the girl was grinning widely. “You only have one guess left,” Mom warned her daughter. “Don’t worry mom, I know what home is now!” The girl exclaimed. “Can you tell me what home is then”? Mom asked. “Sure, Home is not a place, a wall of bricks, nor a game.” The girl was still smiling. “Then what is home”? Mom asked. “Home is chaotic, home is my sanctuary, and home is family. But most of all home is a feeling in your heart, and it follows you around wherever you feel safe.” The Mom was now also grinning. “That’s right. I’m so proud of you.” She added as they approached their house. Not a house, but a home.
