The Meaning of Home to Me
A home is not a place with four walls it’s a feeling, a feeling that is safe and warm. Home to me is agriculture, which is my family’s home. My home since I was little was the barn, yes a barn is a building or a shelter but to me it’s a place full of good and bad memories. A home to me, including my closest friends and family is the outdoors, the outdoors is calming, free, and exciting especially when you share it with the people you adore. A home is a place where you learn how to be strong, responsible, kind, and trustful. In my home my family really likes to watch movies late at night. While we were watching movies, they always find a way to make me laugh after a difficult day. My family has always been so supportive with my choices and activities that a have chosen to do. Each year I always look forward to Christmas and spend it with my family; we always play games during Christmas, and we always get so many presents each year. I'm so grateful for the lake we are surrounded by. My dad taught me how to fish when I was younger on Charleston Lake right behind our family farm. At my home, behind our house we have a sugar shack where we make Steacy Farms maple syrup. In the Summer, during bass fishing, on Saturday night we always have a late-night bonfire and roast marshmallows. I always love the season Summer, I always look forward to Summer because of haying season, I love riding in the tractor with my sister baling hay. I always look forward to mud bogging back in the field with my sister until our mom tells us to come inside. I also love swimming in my grandma’s pool, along with my little cousin, he is only five years old, but he loves to swim. In the fall, I like to ride in the combine with my dad, while my sister drives the cab tractor and the grain wagons. I'm so excited to have kids of my own one day knowing that they will have amazing grandparents and a safe place to go when they need it. That’s what the meaning of home means to me.
