Home: The Place I Belong
Home is a place where all are welcome and safe,
It’s where everyone is loved and doesn’t feel out of place
The laughter of loved ones echoes down the hall
And put downs are not accepted at all
It’s a place where you never have to hide your trueself
Where all achievements and honours are displayed on a shelf
Anyone and everyone is treated with love and respect
It’s where empathy and cooperation is what we expect
Home is a place that feels like a warm summer day
And a cozy bed that makes me want to stay
As the sun’s warm gaze shines on my face
I know I am so lucky to have such an inviting place
As I feel the warm embrace of my family
I realize not all people are as privileged in amity
Nor have a place filled with love and laughter
To build memories and reminisce after
Home is a place that we shouldn’t take for granted
Where the seeds of growth should always be planted
It should not matter what religion or race
Home is a place where all should face no disgrace
Thank you to Habitat for Humanity for all that they do
For helping make people's dreams come true
Everyone deserves a safe place to live and be free
And live in a loving home, just like me.
