From a House to a Home

As my family and I started packing our things, I thought of all the memories I have had throughout the day I was born, thinking of all the happy times, hardest times, and the saddest times, as we all still all go through it together. As we are done packing and saying our goodbyes then driving far away from there, I say bye Nigeria and hello Canada we go. Suddenly I start to have this weird feeling, I mean I was sad we were moving but I still feel happy we are having a fresh start, I still miss my family and my friends in Nigeria. We go to the airport. I felt so excited because I have not been on an airplane for an exceptionally long time, but it was extremely exciting. We finally reached Canada and it felt …... Different, the houses the trees every were felt so different, but I got used to it day by day. THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL FINALLY CAME!!! It was so scary, this time no excitement came running through my body, but my mom made it a little bit better by giving me a big bear hug, at least that was something that decreased my fear. I finally went to my class, and I learned new things. My first day of school was incredibly good and I made new friends. At the end of the year, I loved my school and my home, I did not feel like the same when I came to Canada, I felt good, and I can finally call it my home where I feel safe and free. Habitat for Humanity gives families a place they can call home to feel safe and free, just like me.
