My Safe Place

Home is where memories are made, where my mom cooks delicious food filled with love. We sit at the dining table laughing at what happened at school today. I help my mom with the dishes and go get ready for bed. The dark blankets the sky and I get scared, but I remind myself that I'm safe at home and my family is always there. When I woke up, I realized we were going to miss the school bus. I woke my parents up in a rush, and they told me it was Saturday! I ran down the stairs, jumped on the couch, and turned on the TV. My mom told me I had to have my breakfast first, so I said pancakes. So I turned off the TV and got the maple syrup for my pancakes. When I finished, it started raining. Thankfully, we have a roof over our heads. Once everyone finished their pancakes, we all huddled together and started a movie. I got all the blankets from the house and my brother and I made a pillow fort to watch the movie in it. We realized the rain had stopped, so we paused the movie and went out to play. Thank you, Habitat for Humanity for providing safe homes for people in our community.
