The Small-Hearted Home

My home is small-hearted but sometimes it is big-hearted too. My home is where laughter and conversations live. But sometimes it’s where screams and yells grow on top of me and cries dissolve into my pillow. Home is where we have fresh-smelling rice with kimchi. Then we gather around and eat it all together, the food always makes my mouth water. But sometimes we eat separately. I would eat first or after my family and while a few of us are eating someone must take care of David. David is my baby cousin probably the one who caused the mayhem. Home is where happy memories are made like winning a board game or doing good on a test and your parents are proud. But bad memories spread on top of them like getting grounded, getting your technology taken away, getting scolded and crying in your room. There’s more but there’s too many to say. Sometimes home is me and my mom talking and laughing about something, and in that moment, she is an amazing mom. But sometimes my mom would yell at me for the smallest things, and I go into my bedroom and think I am in a shadowy world and be in my own bubble. This is where I come back home after a long day at school and see David running to me. But sometimes he has gone to his dad’s house and my parents are sad and devastated. That’s my small-hearted home…
