What Home Means to Me
Hot chocolate, a warm blanket, fuzzy socks and a movie with your family; this is what home means to me. Home is a safe space and my comfort zone. Home is both a secure and cozy place to live with our families, pets and get to enjoy time with friends and those we love. Home is a place to build happy memories and have fun experiences. It’s a place where we can truly just be ourselves and be cared for. Home is a place where you can be cherished and be appreciated. Home is a place where you can be free and not feel judged. For me, I have two moms and two families who love and care for me very much. At one home, I have four people: my sister, my mom, her girlfriend, and me. And at the other house, I have seven people: my sister, two stepsisters, a stepbrother, my other mom, and my stepmother! I love both of my families very much, and when I come home, I feel good. Home means unconditional love, care, and ongoing support. Home is somewhere I can go when I’m sad, and I can talk to the people I love. Home is where we establish a sense of who we are and where we fit into the world. Home is a physical space that becomes intertwined with our emotional experiences, memories, and personal history, making us who we are. A home gives people a purpose; to care about the people that mean the most to them. It is a place to tell amusing tales, a good story, or make memorable memories with one another. Furthermore, home is more than a place; it is a feeling. Home is a feeling of love and happiness that we share with the ones we love. Home can be anything to anyone. And like they say, there’s no place like home! And that’s what home means to me.
