The Wonders of Home
Home is more than a place I live
It holds a heart to appreciate and to thrive
In the garden marigolds here and roses there
I can smell the fresh and calm in the air
Home is a place to be creative and fun
The play and the mess are never done.
Spray brother with a water gun
Cooling down in the hot summer sun
Home is more than a room where I sleep
It's a place for comfort when I weep
When my emotions grow wild
I feel horrible to be an upset child
My mom wraps me tightly in a blanket
Telling me I'm an easter bunny in a basket
Home is where I can be myself
Jumping, yelling and doing wrong in front of an elf
I bury myself in books on my bed
Pretend homeworks done, reading instead
Chickadee chirping is my home's sound
While worms try to hide and not be found
Just open your heart and you'll see
Home is a place for all creatures to be
Enjoying writing my journal but a sudden thought...
A thought breaks my heart, and can't be fought
— What if my home is gone?
I will be lost like a stray cat in a lonely bubble
Trying to escape the swallowing dark trouble
That is too painful to imagine and is not coming true
My home is filled with memories I've been through
My panic stops as the rain trickles down
It’s the time to put on my cozy nightgown
Looking outside and feelling the world sleeping
Everyone deserves a home for resting and keeping
I am going to have a dream tonight
The dream that lights my heart bright
Supporting others to help them understand
Home is a place where we grow hand in hand
