The Five Senses of Home
The Five Senses Of Home

Smell
Home is where you smell your Moms famous chocolate chip cookies straight out of the oven. One thing is for sure she bakes every cookie with a little lovin’. Home is where you smell your sisters lighting up smelly candles. Sometimes I break into her room and steal them like a vandal.
Touch
You know you’re home when you feel your Moms warm embrace. Then you know you're safe. You know you’re home when you feel the touch of your warm bed as you drift to sleep. It feels like you're cuddling a warm fuzzy sheep.
Hear
You’re home when you hear your Dad chanting for his favorite football team. While your sister goes to your Dad’s shoulder, and leans. Your home when you hear your parents say good night and I love you. While you lay in your bed and hear the owls coo.
Sight
I see my parents hug and say goodbye. At the end of the dayI see my Dad come through the door and say hi. Most of all, I see the rare moments of family joy. With three girls and one boy.
That is what home is to me.
