The warmth of a fresh bowl of popcorn passed to my fingertips. When I was picking up a piece, I placed it in my mouth and crunched the buttery popcorn while a pair of puppy eyes was staring at me, convincing me with her sad eyes. “Popcorn is not for dogs.” I petted her on the head and asked her to lay down. The cozy blankets are resting on us, my entire family, comforting us in the night. The pillows are piled up in the corner of the couch during a comedy movie that is playing in the living room that is often dim and cool, but tonight it is super toasty and bright. Suddenly, a really loud voice of laughter echoes through the room. Everyone giggled at a hilarious scene where the main character of the movie was misled to the incorrect destination and made a dramatic reaction after realizing the mistake. I was laughing too, my voice blended into the group, the unity, the place called home. To me, home means a place where you are fed, a place where there is constant laughter and comfort. A place where I am unconditionally accepted. My home is built up with the extraordinary love from my family members. Every single one of them are the most important portion of my home, they are the reason why I have a home. A soft shelter to return to from the world, supporting hugs, large gatherings are home. A place where memories are to be made and secrets are to be shared. The walls keep my secrets safe and the roof holds my memories in. That is my home.
