What Home Means To Me
Sometimes when I’m thinking,
I think how lucky I am
While some people eat canned beans,
I’m feasting on cooked ham
Some people sleep on cots,
Or even on the ground
While I relax in a comfy bed,
Family members all around
Some people don’t have houses,
And are very, very sad
But you can be very happy,
Even if there's no money to be had
Home means something more to me,
Then just a structured building
It is something special,
It’s not just a place for living
Home means the feeling of being safe,
Just being with those who care
It means being cuddled in my mothers arms,
Being snuggled cozy in a chair
Home means the delicious smell,
Of when my family bakes
Or when we are celebrating,
With Grandma’s chocolate cake
It is the very feeling,
Of warmth, safety and pleasure.
When you hear the crackling fire,
The feeling is a treasure
It means the colour of my tongue,
When I suck on a popsicle
When I wake up in the morning,
Everything seems possible
Just the feeling of a cool breeze,
While enjoying snacks and tea
Spending time with my brother,
Is what is important to me
A home is something very special,
For everyone to have
And if I didn’t have one,
I would be very sad
I really love my home,
I think everyone should have one
My home is the best part of my life,
Where I’ve had the most fun
You don’t even need a house,
To feel safe and sound
All you need is your family,
Just having them around
