What Is Home?

Home is my safe space where I can do what I want, say what I want, and wear what I want. Home is made of the sound of my dad pumped up for a ringette game, a place of personal space, a place where you can steal candy without your parents knowing. Home is where you belong. Home is the place that shelters me when our Mother Earth is sad. Home is where my cat runs fast, as a free fox. Home is the place of recovery, growth, and happiness. Home is a place where you experience ups and downs. The sound of family, loud yet calm, fills the air. My mom, dad, sister, brother, dog, cats, fish, and I are all a part of my home. Home is made up of all those good and bad memories. Home is the place that I think of all day. Home is the place that stores your clothes, shoes, and toys. Home is the place that you appreciate because you feel safe there. At home, you have the fresh resources of kindness, caring, encouragement, and support. Home is the place where you can take hot showers and there is clean drinking water from the tap. Home is the place that you go back to when you come back from a trip- it is waiting there in your heart. Home is the place that you say I want to go home. It is a place that is yours, sincerely yours. Home sounds like fun and laughter. At home you can see the smiles of people happy to be there. At home you can smell cookies fresh out of the oven. Habitat for Humanity has been working hard to build homes for families who need them most. Home is truly yours.
