A Feeling I Chase
Home can’t be defined, but I know when I’m there
I feel it in my pulse and swirling through the air
For me, home is not just one single place
But a feeling I feel, and a feeling I chase
Home is where I was taught so much that I know
How to survive every blow, every woe
And how to appreciate all that I’ve got
Every smile smiled, every dream that’s been caught
Home is the door that always opens up wide
Redirecting my path so I step right inside
As I take a deep breath, my heart swells with pride
These are my people, for whom I have tried
With a fast-beating heart and eyes that gleam
We hug and we kiss, and it feels like a dream
Home is the blanket that I curl up in
The one that is threaded, threaded and thin
That has held me so warmly since I was born
Many times mended, and many times torn
It holds all my very first ideas and thoughts
All through the threaded needle and into the knots
Home is the soft hands that hold me so tight
The ones that can cure me of any deep fright
The ones that ensure I sleep soundly through the night
The ones that make my whole life so vibrant and bright
Those soft hands that give me a light, caring shove
An inspiring push filled with courage and love
Home can’t be defined, but I know when I’m there
I feel it in my pulse and swirling through the air
For me, home is not just one single place
But a feeling I feel that I will always chase
