The Five Senses of Home
My home is amazing because it is where I grew up. It is also where my memories are stored.
Before I even enter my home I can hear the laughter from outside. In our home we love to play UNO, Clue, and Mario Party. We always laugh when we are playing games together.
When I go inside my home, it is full of warmth and memories. I see the lego that we have built together. I see our Norfolk Pine that we received as a favour from my Uncle Will’s wedding. We planted it as a sapling and now it touches the ceiling in my living room.
When I'm home I feel my family hugging me. I curl up on the couch with my Mom, Dad and Sister. We cuddle under the matching quilts that my Auntie Leigh made us.
I taste my dad’s homemade cooking. We love to cook and bake together. We use recipes from the homemade cookbook my Gran made for my Dad, Aunts, and Uncle. All these family recipes are delicious. My favourite things to make are my Great Gran’s Buns, Papa P’s Fudge, and my Dad’s Brownies.
The smell of a campfire always makes me think of home. We love to sit outside when the weather is nice and get together with family. We love to have a campfire. We play cards and toast marshmallows. This is one of my favourite smells and I love every second of it.
When my senses trigger these memories I am always reminded of the meaning of home and the love of my family.
