My Home

Hello my name is Dheekshanaa Baskaran. I am 10 years old and I absolutely LOVE cooking. I’m going to talk about what home means to me. My home is anywhere, anywhere as long as I’m with my family. My dad, his name is Baskaran Selvaraj. He buys me anything I want because I’m his daughter and he loves me. Even when I have an annoying little sister that is in grade 2 who is 7 years old. My mom, her name is Suganya Thangavel. She is the most understanding person that I know. She knows that if I had a $100 that I spend it all on books. Whenever I’m sad or angry she lets me watch T.V or lets me eat chocolate and she rarely lets me eat ice cream. My sister, she does come into my room without knocking and blame me for a lot of things, but my sister is my sister, and she cares about me, if she gets something she will ask one for me. And lastly, FOOD. Food is literally the best thing in life. There are many different spices, textures and types of food, but the one I LOVE is nandu columbu. Nandu means crab and columbu means curry in my native language in southern India called Tamil. My mom makes the best. It’s always the right amount of spiciness. It tastes like heaven. I know I’m home if I have all those people and the food.
