the meaning of home

I think that the word home means to be at home, like to feel safe for example. When you are at school and you get mad, your friends can help you calm down, just like you would when you're at home feeling safe and calm. Or if you see a building and and let's say it has a cute dog and says "Home" on it, it seems like the cute dog is safe and happy like he is at home.
