Where I Belong To...

Have you ever imagined what life would be like without home? The word “home” can convey a different meaning to everyone. When people hear the word “home”, their brains might just picture a house. However, the words “home” and “house” don’t symbolise the same meaning. Home is where our family and our love is. Love is so special that it has the power to build a home. Because of love, home is a place where we are willing to make sacrifices. Home can always change since you decide where you feel at home. To me, home is a place where you can be yourself and feel safe without caring about what others think. It is a place where you can experience the warm presence of your family and friends. It is when I come home from school, my dog runs up to me and my family gives me a warm welcome. It is the warm shower smoothly flowing against my skin. It is the smell of my mom’s scrumptious cooking. It is when my sisters and I run to my hard-working dad when he comes home from a long day of work. Every night, I fall asleep thinking how grateful I am for everything I have that less fortunate people might not have. I love lying in bed against my soft silk bed sheets, covered in my toasty blanket. Home isn’t a thing people should take for granted. Without my home, I would simply feel lost. The place where I feel acceptance is gone. Everyone deserves a home and no meaning of home is incorrect. Thank you, Habitat for Humanity for this wonderful opportunity to help those in need across Canada. I feel honoured to be a participant in this significant organisation.
