Meaning of Home

Late at night laying in your cozy bed and warm house when you cannot sleep do you ever think about how many people each night are sleeping on the streets while you are in your blanket filled bed? Hello, my name is Maddie, and I am writing this to talk and tell you about what the meaning of home is to me. There are about 35,000 people daily that are homeless. A heartbreaking fact about homelessness is that Indigenous are more vulnerable to being homeless. They account for about 30% of users of homeless shelters. Firstly, one of the things that make me feel at home is family. Family is one of the most valuable things in the world. Your family supports you, loves you, cares about you, helps you and more! Family makes me feel at home because I have been with them my whole life and it just does not feel like home when you are not with the people you really love and the people that have been by your side for everything. Family does not mean just people blood related. Family can mean anyone who makes you feel like family, people who make you feel included. Things I like doing with my family are stuff like movie nights, game nights, family vacation and I like the traditions I have with all my family. Secondly, I choose love. Love makes me feel at home. Love is doing, making, and seeing something that you love in your heart, you should never change yourself for someone else. Love creates a heart because who you love is in your heart, that’s why love creates a heart. Love makes memories when you are with or doing something you love you remember it. Love is hanging out with your loved ones! For example, your loved ones include your family, friends, and animals. Animals can make you feel at home because animals can comfort you. Lastly, when I think of home I think of memories. Memories are in our house. There are a lot of pictures of us as a family. There are pictures of our cousins and other family members too. Memories remind you of people that have passed away. A memory can be a picture. Memories show fun things you did. Memories can be something like reading a childhood book or a childhood movie. In conclusion, I talked about what home means to me. I think the three most important things about home to me are family, love, and memories. I chose family because family is so precious. Who else would be there to cook your delicious meals? The second main point that I choose is that the meaning of home to me is love. Love is so valuable. The third thing I choose is memories. Memories remind you of things and people you love. Memories show you so many things you have done in the past. I hope you enjoyed my writing about what home means to me.
