Meaning of Home

For me, the meaning of a home is different from a house. It’s not all about the roof, walls, doors, or even windows, it's about how you feel when at home. Being in a house is how you feel in it. For example, feeling comfortable, supported by a loved one, feeling safe with the people around you, or cherishing the memories that stay between you and others. The most special part about my home is how I have memories with my family that build up during my childhood and into this fantastic life I have now! I think of how my family celebrates when I have a birthday or getting a 100% on my test that I thought I wouldn’t do so well on. It is being comforted as I sob in their arms. As I grow older, I’ll be missing all the memories my family and I have made. A house keeps you from being wet or cold and also keeps you and your family together as if you’re in “one” room. A home is how you celebrate, do traditions, and have something that piques your interest while you're supported to not give up. Home makes you feel safe, loved and comforted in various ways. That is the difference between a house and a home for me.
