Home
The dictionary defines home as, “... a semi-permanent or permanent place of residence for one or more human occupants, and sometimes various companion animals,” but in my opinion, it is more than that. To me, it’s a place where cherished memories are made. Home’s a welcoming environment, enveloped with compassion, comfort, and safety, and the warmth of a loving embrace provides reassurance and courage. It is where the smell of familiar food overflows me with happiness like a broken dam. Home is where siblings can feud, and still conspire together. It’s a place free from judgement, fear, or harm. Home to me can provide dreams, special moments, courage, security, freedom, and more. They say “Home is where the heart is”, and that’s where it should be. Home is different for everyone, and can mean all sorts of different things. This is what home means to me.
