What does home mean to you?

What does a home mean to you? To me personally, a home doesn't just mean a roof over your head. It means so much more than that. It means that not only do you need a house, but you need people, people who support you through your hardest times. People who give you hope when all you see is darkness. For instance, I have a friend who came from El Salvador and moved to Canada with her mom and sisters. The reason why was that her dad was killed by dangerous people so the rest of her family was being threatened and were forced to move out of their country. I strongly feel that her mom was seeking hope to give her family protection in their new home, and because my friend had family by each other's side they were able to finally feel at home where they lived So no matter where you are or where you live, if you have your family there to support each other, you can face hard trials together instead of facing them alone. Nothing feels impossible when you have a family and a home. I also have another friend who is from Ukraine and were forced to move here because of the war. It was really hard for her family to leave everything behind to come to Canada, but they knew they would be able to start a home. When they moved into their house it didn’t feel like home at first but the longer they got accustomed to their life the more their house felt like a home. So it just goes to show that when you have family with by your side any place can feel like home because you feel safe, protected, and happy. In conclusion, this is what a home means to me where you have all these experiences that make you and your family closer than ever with each other and your home.
