A Home

A Home. One day on a cold winters morning a girl woke up in a wonderful warm bed. She woke up thinking of what home means to her. She thought and thought but nothing came to mind. So finally, she got dressed, pulled on her winter gear, and went to where she best thinks, with her horse, Haven. She whistled and her horse came running up to greet her. Smiling, she said hello by stroking Havens forehead and gently blowing on her muzzle. Brushing her soft coat with her hands she felt the warmth of the animal. The horse responded with a soft nudge of her nose. Suddenly, the girl realized what home meant to her. It meant comfort. The wind blew snow in her face, she shivered, her teeth chattered. So, she gave Haven a quick hug, said see you later and trudged back to the house. She opened the door, and the smell of fresh bread surrounded her. Her family were all sitting in the living room laughing and talking by a nice warm fire. She realized all the reasons that make a home a home were a loving family and warm safe place. She felt so warm, happy, and safe, like nothing in the world could take her away. She thought, “When I am older, I want to have a family to love, care for and have a home just like this one, filled with memories, love, and a safe place for my kids.
