I Hope One Day Everyone Will Have One

A home is an extraordinary place where we share our lives with those closest to us. It is a space where we can be ourselves, and find comfort against life's challenges. Everyone deserves to have a home that's safe, secure and accessible, as it is a basic human right. For many, the home offers a shelter from the harsh realities of the world, a shelter during natural disasters, and a source of comfort during difficult times. It is where we feel loved, valued, and appreciated by those who matter most. Whether it's a physical house, a park, a pool, or simply being with loved ones, home is where we find a sense of belonging and understanding. When I wake up, I see wonderful things all around me. I see my family, friends and pets. I go downstairs to see my sisters playing with toys. I smile at them and walk by. I find my mum and dad making breakfast in the kitchen. A few minutes later, breakfast is ready. My sisters and I thank my parents for the appetizing food. I ask my parents what home is. “Home is anywhere you feel welcome and comfortable. Home can be anywhere where family is. It can be a physical house or a pool,” my mum says. “Or even outside!” my dad adds. Once we are done breakfast, I think about what my mum and dad said about home. I wonder if a house and a home are the same or 2 different things. My parents are too busy for me to ask another question, so I resort to my computer. I type in the search bar “What is the difference between a house and a home?” I keep scrolling until I find a promising website. It said “A house is a physical place with 4 walls and a roof. A home can be about anywhere you want.” This made sense with what my parents told me. I laid on my bed, wondering about home. I decided to take a walk in the park to clear my mind. Since I live downtown, I saw people on the streets. I wondered if the streets were their home. But they can’t be; the people don’t look very happy. I wish they had a home. As I come home, I ponder about the things I heard, saw and felt. Everyone should have a home, because everyone deserves one. I hope one day everyone will have one.
