My Journey Between Homes

Home to me is two places of warmth and love. My parents may live in separate houses but both places are my home. At my mom’s house, the aroma of her essential oils floods the rooms and that makes me feel calm and safe. Dancing and meditating with my mom make me feel happy. At my dad’s house, laughter fills the house with the jokes we make. And when we come home from a trip it feels nice to be home again. I feel lucky to have two places to call home. Habitat for Humanity helps those who are less fortunate than I am. Home is not a physical structure. It is a place of happiness and memories. Even though moving between houses is hard, it is worth it because I get to spend time with my family at each place. Home is a place where I feel no stress at all. Home is where I can relax and let go of my worries. Home is a place where I can make my own meals and meals for others. One other thing other than my human family that makes me happy is my dog, Zoe. She knows the difference between when I am happy and sad. When I am sad, I take a break in my room, or I read. Reading and writing are big parts of my life. Even though my life is hard, I love my family and my friends. I love my life.
