The Meaning of Home

Anthony Liccione once said “Everyone needs a house to live in, but a family is what builds a home.” This is true. So, incredibly, true. Home might be a tiny boat on the sea, Sounds like an amazing life to me. And that sea could be home to millions of families, Whales and guppies alike. At the bottom of that sea, I can guarantee you, There is sand. Sand that builds up and up to an island. An island like Vancouver Island. Where I live. Where my house stands overlooking the beautiful Victoria. Where my family laughs and cries, Where we sleep and we eat. In my home there is a goofy and courageous brother, A father to teach me and show me, A one in a million mother who builds me up always, And an adorable cat called Skye. There are homes everywhere, All different shapes and sizes. A hermit crab’s shell, The den of a cougar, Or a house. Homes are a place where you should feel safe about anything, A place you’ll come back to every day. That is the meaning of home.
