What Home Means to Me

To me, home means my life. I recently just moved to Hamilton, so I know how it is to be without a home, especially under a lot of stress to pay rent or mortgage. My house is important because it is a cheerful place where family and friends gather and spend time together as a community. It is also a nice and warm time during the winter and cool during the summer. My wonderful and beautiful house gives me wonderful storage and a fridge so I can snack when I am hungry. Homeless individuals often do not have enough food so a possibility could be that the homeless people could die of hunger because they do not get enough food. Poor people do not even have a roof for their heads so whenever it rains, they get soaked when they get sick, but we have wonderful cover from the rain. Mother Teresa had a calling from God saying to leave the convent and live with the people at the slums. God says in the bible "Whatever you did for the least of my brothers, you did it for me.” In the same way, if we help the poor and donate to foodbank and donation centers, we are helping our Lord and God. You need to have the virtue of empathy. If you put yourselves in the shoes of homeless people, imagine what struggles they face. In Canada, there are 235, 000 homeless people and 1.3 millions of homeless people worldwide. A parent’s priority is to ensure their children are eating well, so if they do not have enough money to buy food, they would give their children the food they have, and the parents could go starving for 3 weeks or more. Home means to care for others like Mother Teresa did. All these homeless people don’t have a roof for their heads. A roof of love, support, kindness, laughter, sorrow, and joy. A roof for shelter from the rain. The cause of why people don’t have a roof for their heads and shelter as well as a wonderful home to enjoy and live in are because most homeless people are addicted to drugs and alcohol which would fire them from their jobs.
