My Home

A house and a home are very different, a house has a roof above us, floors beneath us, objects around us, and walls surrounding. For a house has no love or laughter built into it, it is just a building, just a structure, a space and a roof over your head. When I think about a house I picture a place, a shelter from rain and snowy days, the days where it’s best to stay inside. Some people will say a home is where your family is, but I will say a home is where your heart is. For me I have many homes, a home resting above the grains of sand at my cottage, snuggled under my warm blankets, or even skating on our backyard rink with my brothers. I don't think of homes like places but instead of moments, moments of joy, happiness, and belongingness. A home is kind of like a house, but instead of walls, memories, instead of a roof, happiness, and instead of floors, love, being the roots beneath us holding you in place. A house is just a building until you add people, emotions, memories, and moments, then it turns into a home. I know a lot of people right now don’t have a house, but I really do hope they have a home. Thank you so much Habitat For Humanity for helping to give those who are struggling a second chance, and for giving many grade six’s across Canada the chance to do this project.
